Your advisor is expected to
- Identify a thesis project of appropriate scope and difficulty,
requiring work comparable to a regular three-quarter course. The
project is supposed to be done independently by the student.
- Approve the student's project abstract due October 20 describing
the project.
- Identify resources such as computer time, equipment, travel,
needed to complete the project and agree with the student how these
are to be provided.
- be available during the project for consultation to the student,
personally or via identified members of his research group.
- provide comments on the student's partial drafts due in autumn and
winter quarters as requested by the students, personnally or via group
members.
- Read and critique the student's thesis before submission, in mid
to late Spring quarter, if the student provides it.
- Read and evaluate the submitted thesis.
- Attend the student's thesis presentation late in Spring quarter.
- Confer with the BA thesis faculty to arrive at a thesis grade.
