Identify a thesis project of appropriate scope and difficulty, requiring work comparable to a regular three-quarter course. The project is supposed to be done independently by the student.
Approve the student's project abstract due October 20 describing the project.
Identify resources such as computer time, equipment, travel, needed to complete the project and agree with the student how these are to be provided.
be available during the project for consultation to the student, personally or via identified members of his research group.
provide comments on the student's partial drafts due in autumn and winter quarters as requested by the students, personnally or via group members.
Read and critique the student's thesis before submission, in mid to late Spring quarter, if the student provides it.
Read and evaluate the submitted thesis.
Attend the student's thesis presentation late in Spring quarter.
Confer with the BA thesis faculty to arrive at a thesis grade.
